Ingredients:
- 2 lbs (900g) Russet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil or vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
- ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) garlic powder (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) paprika (optional)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Cold water
Instructions:
- Peel potatoes (if desired). Cut into uniform ½-inch thick fries.
- Place cut fries in a large bowl and cover with cold water. Soak for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours).
- Drain the fries well and pat them completely dry with paper towels.
- In a large bowl, toss the dried fries with olive oil (or vegetable oil), salt, garlic powder (if using), paprika (if using), and black pepper. Ensure they're evenly coated.
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. Arrange fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to cook in batches.
- Cook for 10 minutes, then shake the basket well to redistribute the fries. Cook for another 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, shaking occasionally.
- Remove the fries from the air fryer and serve immediately.
