Ingredients:
- 1 (10-12 ounce/280-340g) ribeye steak, about 1-inch thick
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15ml)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt (5g)
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (2g)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (2g)
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder (1g)
- 1 tablespoon butter (15g), for basting (optional)
Instructions:
- Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. This is crucial for a good sear.
- In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the mixture all over the steak, ensuring it's evenly coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
- Place the seasoned ribeye steak in the preheated air fryer basket, ensuring it's not overcrowded.
- Air fry for 4 minutes, flip, then continue cooking for another 4-8 minutes, depending on your preferred level of doneness. Use an instant-read thermometer to check the internal temperature: Rare: 125-130°F (52-54°C) Medium-Rare: 130-135°F (54-57°C) Medium: 135-145°F (57-63°C) Medium-Well: 145-155°F (63-68°C) Well Done: 155°F+ (68°C+) (Not recommended for ribeye, love!)
- During the last minute of cooking, add a pat of butter to the air fryer basket. Use tongs to baste the steak with the melted butter (Optional).
- Remove the steak from the air fryer and place it on a cutting board. Tent loosely with foil and let it rest for at least 5 minutes (ideally 10). This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.
- Slice the ribeye steak against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious air fryer rib eye steak!
