Ingredients:

  • 1 (10-12 ounce/280-340g) ribeye steak, about 1-inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15ml)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt (5g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (2g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (2g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder (1g)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (15g), for basting (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. This is crucial for a good sear.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the mixture all over the steak, ensuring it's evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  4. Place the seasoned ribeye steak in the preheated air fryer basket, ensuring it's not overcrowded.
  5. Air fry for 4 minutes, flip, then continue cooking for another 4-8 minutes, depending on your preferred level of doneness. Use an instant-read thermometer to check the internal temperature: Rare: 125-130°F (52-54°C) Medium-Rare: 130-135°F (54-57°C) Medium: 135-145°F (57-63°C) Medium-Well: 145-155°F (63-68°C) Well Done: 155°F+ (68°C+) (Not recommended for ribeye, love!)
  6. During the last minute of cooking, add a pat of butter to the air fryer basket. Use tongs to baste the steak with the melted butter (Optional).
  7. Remove the steak from the air fryer and place it on a cutting board. Tent loosely with foil and let it rest for at least 5 minutes (ideally 10). This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.
  8. Slice the ribeye steak against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious air fryer rib eye steak!
