Ingredients:
- 4 cups (950ml) water
- 4 black tea bags
- 1 cup (240ml) fresh lemon juice
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 3 cups (710ml) cold water
- 1 lemon, sliced into rounds
- 4 sprigs (4g) fresh mint leaves
- 2 cups (480g) ice cubes
Instructions:
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a pot. Remove from heat and steep your tea bags for 5 minutes. Note: Don't let them sit longer or the tea becomes astringent.
- Remove tea bags immediately. Let the tea cool to room temperature on the counter, then pop it in the fridge until chilled. According to [Serious Eats](https://www.seriouseats.com), proper steeping times are critical to avoid over extracting tannins.
- In a separate pitcher, whisk together the fresh lemon juice and granulated sugar. Keep whisking until the sugar crystals have completely dissolved and the liquid looks clear.
- Stir in 3 cups of cold water. Mix until the lemonade is smooth and combined.
- Fill four tall glasses to the brim with ice cubes.
- Pour the chilled tea and the homemade lemonade into each glass at the same time. Do this until each glass is half full of each liquid.
- Stir gently with a long spoon to integrate the two layers.
- Garnish with lemon slices and a few mint leaves.
