- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1 teaspoon anise seeds (or 1/2 teaspoon anise extract)
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar for dusting
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for dusting
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and anise seeds.
- In a separate bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the sugar, mixing until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- On a floured surface, roll out chilled dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
- Use a cookie cutter to cut shapes and place them on a lined or greased cookie sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for dusting.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool slightly, then dust with sugar-cinnamon mixture before serving.
