Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extracts until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thick.
  8. Use cookie cutters to cut out moon and star shapes, transferring them to a lined baking sheet.
  9. Sprinkle with edible glitter or sprinkles before baking.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.
  11. Allow cookies to cool on a rack before decorating further, if desired.
