Ingredients:

  • 1 bunch green or unripe bananas
  • Paper bag (preferably brown) or cling film.
  • Parchment paper (optional, for easier cleanup)
  • 1-2 Apples or Avocados

Instructions:

  1. Place bananas in a paper bag. Add an apple or avocado to the bag (optional - they also release ethylene). Fold the top of the bag closed. Check bananas daily for ripeness (spots appearing, softening of the fruit).
  2. Separate the bunch of bananas into single. Cling film each Banana to envelop them. Check bananas daily for ripeness (spots appearing, softening of the fruit).
  3. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (optional). Place unpeeled bananas on the baking sheet. Bake for 15-60 minutes, checking every 15 minutes, until the peels turn black and the bananas are soft. Note: This method produces very soft, almost liquidy bananas, best for baking. Let cool slightly before using.
