Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (480 mL) bourbon (quality bourbon preferred)
  • 1 cup (120 g) pecans, roughly chopped
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions:

  1. Measure out bourbon, pecans, cayenne pepper, and brown sugar.
  2. In a glass pitcher or jar, combine the bourbon, chopped pecans, cayenne pepper, and optional brown sugar.
  3. Seal the container tightly and shake gently to mix the ingredients.
  4. Store the infusion in a cool, dark place for 1 to 2 weeks. Shake gently every few days to help blend the flavors.
  5. After the infusion period, strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into another container to remove solid bits.
  6. Use a funnel to transfer the strained bourbon into a clean, airtight bottle. Store in a cool, dark place.
  7. Taste the infused bourbon; if desired, add a bit more cayenne or sugar for balance.
