Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk or 2% milk
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) lemon juice or 1 tablespoon (15ml) white vinegar

Instructions:

  1. In a measuring cup or small bowl, add the lemon juice (or white vinegar) to the milk.
  2. Gently stir the mixture with a whisk or spoon.
  3. Let the mixture stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. The milk will thicken slightly and begin to curdle.
  4. After 30 minutes, the mixture should resemble buttermilk. It will be thicker than regular milk and have small clumps.
  5. Your homemade buttermilk is now ready to use in your favorite recipes.
