Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 2 black tea bags
- 1 cinnamon stick, cracked
- 4 green cardamom pods, bruised
- 2 whole cloves
- 0.5 inch fresh ginger, sliced into rounds
- 4 black peppercorns, crushed
- 1.5 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 shots espresso
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- Place the water, cracked cinnamon, bruised cardamom, cloves, ginger, and peppercorns into a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes to extract spice oils.
- Add the black tea bags to the spiced water. Turn off the heat and steep for 3 minutes. Strain the liquid into a 16oz mug, discarding the whole spices and tea bags. Stir in the brown sugar until dissolved.
- Prepare 2 shots of espresso or 1/2 cup of extra-strong brewed coffee. Pour the hot coffee directly into the spiced tea base in your mug.
- Heat the milk in a clean saucepan over medium heat until it reaches 150°F (65°C). Use a milk frother to create a dense foam, then pour the milk into the mug and garnish with a pinch of ground cinnamon.
