Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (475 ml) soy wax flakes
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) vanilla essential oil
  • 4 candle wicks with metal bases (8-inch)
  • 4 heatproof containers (like glass jars, approximately 8 oz each)
  • Dried flowers or herbs (e.g., lavender or rose petals)

Instructions:

  1. Clean and dry the heatproof containers. Position the candle wicks in the center of each container and secure using a pencil or chopstick.
  2. Fill the bottom pot of the double boiler with water and bring to a simmer. If using a microwave, place wax flakes in a bowl. Add soy wax flakes to the top pot of the double boiler or heat in the microwave for 1-minute intervals until fully melted.
  3. Remove melted wax from heat once it reaches approximately 185°F (85°C). Stir in vanilla essential oil. Mix thoroughly for even scent distribution.
  4. Carefully pour the wax into each prepped container, leaving some space at the top. Optional: Add dried flowers or herbs on top for decoration.
  5. Ensure that the wicks remain centered as the wax begins to set.
  6. Allow candles to cool undisturbed for at least 30 minutes at room temperature. Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch above the wax.
  7. Light your candles for a delightful scent in your space.
