Ingredients:

  • 2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (340g) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (150g) nuts (walnuts or pecans) (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, beat softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using).
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or at least for 4 hours).
  7. The next day, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Scoop dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart. Bake until golden, about 12-15 minutes.
  9. Allow to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
