Ingredients:
- 2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups (340g) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup (150g) nuts (walnuts or pecans) (optional)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using).
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or at least for 4 hours).
- The next day, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Scoop dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart. Bake until golden, about 12-15 minutes.
- Allow to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
