Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground bison
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced red onion
  • Your favorite condiments (ketchup, mustard, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground bison, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overworking the meat.
  3. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties about ¾-inch thick, making a slight indentation in the center.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to help retain shape during grilling.
  5. Preheat grill to medium-high heat (approximately 375°F or 190°C).
  6. Place patties on the grill and cook for 4-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. If using cheese, add a slice during the last minute of cooking.
  8. Toast the buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
  9. Layer lettuce, burgers, tomato, and onion on each bun. Add condiments as desired.
