Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground bison
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- 4 whole wheat burger buns
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese (optional)
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced tomato
- Sliced red onion
- Your favorite condiments (ketchup, mustard, etc.)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground bison, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Mix gently until just combined; avoid overworking the meat.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties about ¾-inch thick, making a slight indentation in the center.
- Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to help retain shape during grilling.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (approximately 375°F or 190°C).
- Place patties on the grill and cook for 4-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- If using cheese, add a slice during the last minute of cooking.
- Toast the buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
- Layer lettuce, burgers, tomato, and onion on each bun. Add condiments as desired.
