Ingredients:
- 4 cups (960 ml) whole milk
- 2 oz (60 g) dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), chopped
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1-2 teaspoons chili powder (adjust for heat preference)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, heat the whole milk over medium heat until it steams but does not boil.
- Stir in the cinnamon stick, chili powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Ensure everything is well combined.
- Remove from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate. Whisk until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes with the cinnamon stick for flavor infusion. Stir in the vanilla extract after removing the cinnamon stick.
- If desired, strain the hot chocolate through a fine mesh strainer for a smoother texture.
- Pour into mugs and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a slice of chili for extra flair.
