Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (55g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup (75g) chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add in the buttermilk, mixing just until combined.
  6. Fold in the dry ingredients until a smooth batter forms.
  7. In another bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, ground cinnamon, and melted butter until crumbly.
  8. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, sprinkle with half of the streusel, then add the remaining batter on top.
  9. Sprinkle the rest of the streusel topping over the last layer of batter.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  11. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before serving.
