Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) prepared horseradish, preferably fresh, or jarred, well-drained
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) hot sauce, such as Tabasco or Frank's RedHot, adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) smoked paprika

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and smoked paprika.
  2. Whisk or stir until all ingredients are evenly distributed and the sauce is smooth.
  3. Taste the cocktail sauce recipe and adjust the seasoning to your liking. Add more horseradish for extra zing, more hot sauce for heat, or more lemon juice for acidity.
  4. For best flavor, cover and chill the cocktail sauce in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Serve chilled with your favourite seafood.
