Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) long-grain white rice
- 2 cups (475ml) water
- ½ teaspoon (3g) salt
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) unsalted butter or olive oil (optional)
Instructions:
- Place the rice in a sieve and rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear.
- In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, salt, and butter/oil (if using).
- Bring the mixture to a rapid boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with the lid, and simmer undisturbed for 18 minutes. Don't lift the lid!
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, still covered, for 5 minutes.
- After resting, fluff the rice gently with a fork. Serve immediately and enjoy!
