Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups (475ml) water
  • ½ teaspoon (3g) salt
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) unsalted butter or olive oil (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Place the rice in a sieve and rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, salt, and butter/oil (if using).
  3. Bring the mixture to a rapid boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with the lid, and simmer undisturbed for 18 minutes. Don't lift the lid!
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, still covered, for 5 minutes.
  6. After resting, fluff the rice gently with a fork. Serve immediately and enjoy!
