Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) flank steak
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons lime juice (about 1 lime)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup ground pork (or chicken)
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1/2 cup grated carrots
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 10-12 spring roll wrappers
- Oil for frying
- Fresh herbs (basil, mint, cilantro) for garnish
- Lime wedges
- Sriracha or hoisin sauce (optional)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, lime juice, minced garlic, black pepper, and chopped cilantro. Marinade the flank steak.
- In a large bowl, mix ground pork (or chicken), shredded cabbage, grated carrots, green onions, fish sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Prepare egg rolls.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet and fry egg rolls until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes on each side.
- Preheat grill and grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Let it rest before slicing.
- Serve the grilled steak on a platter garnished with fresh herbs and lime wedges, alongside the crispy egg rolls. Optional: drizzle with sriracha or hoisin sauce.
