Ingredients:
- 1 (16 oz) bag of pretzel twists (about 450g)
- 12 oz (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) vegetable shortening or coconut oil (optional)
- Sprinkles (optional)
- Chopped nuts (optional)
- Sea salt flakes (optional)
- Crushed candy canes (optional)
- Mini chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Melt the chocolate chips and shortening (if using) in a double boiler or microwave. If microwaving, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and melted.
- Dip each pretzel into the melted chocolate, ensuring it's fully coated. Use a fork to lift the pretzel out of the chocolate and tap off any excess.
- Immediately sprinkle with desired toppings before the chocolate sets (optional).
- Place the chocolate-covered pretzels on the prepared baking sheet. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
- Once set, serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
