Ingredients:

  • 1 (16 oz) bag of pretzel twists (about 450g)
  • 12 oz (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) vegetable shortening or coconut oil (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)
  • Chopped nuts (optional)
  • Sea salt flakes (optional)
  • Crushed candy canes (optional)
  • Mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Melt the chocolate chips and shortening (if using) in a double boiler or microwave. If microwaving, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and melted.
  3. Dip each pretzel into the melted chocolate, ensuring it's fully coated. Use a fork to lift the pretzel out of the chocolate and tap off any excess.
  4. Immediately sprinkle with desired toppings before the chocolate sets (optional).
  5. Place the chocolate-covered pretzels on the prepared baking sheet. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
  6. Once set, serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
