Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (120 mL) soy sauce
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons (30 mL) honey
- 2 tablespoons (30 mL) rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon (15 mL) sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) sriracha or chili paste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) five-spice powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (2 g) black pepper
Instructions:
- Measure and gather all ingredients. Mince the garlic and set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl, add the soy sauce and peanut butter. Whisk together until smooth.
- Stir in honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until fully combined.
- Mix in sriracha, minced garlic, five-spice powder, and black pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning to preference.
- Transfer the homemade hoisin sauce to an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to two weeks.
