Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups (281g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (5g) baking soda
- 1 teaspoon (5g) salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks/226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup (165g) packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup (113g) chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C/Gas Mark 5).
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the vanilla extract and then the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges and slightly soft in the center.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
